my why

First and foremost, I am a mom. My daughter Kinsley, is the coolest kid I know. She is smart, funny, and her imagination is something to strive for. Her short stories she enjoys writing, always have me laughing. The houses and towns she creates in Minecraft, are so elaborate and detailed. I am constantly in awe of her. She is my own personal cheerleader, my motivation behind everything I do. I strive to show her that hard work will always pay off, and to never stop chasing your dreams. If Kinsley ever tags along for a session, I promise you will have a blast!

Then there are these two. If you ask anyone I know, they will tell you that I am obsessed with my boys. Meet Chief, and Boone. I grew up with golden retrievers, and as adult knew I would always have one. Chief is two, and definitely a Momma's boy. He is sweet, cuddly, and will always greet you with the first thing he can grab in his mouth. Boone is the newest 2022 addition to the family, and he fits right in. He is a Saint Bernard, Great Pyrenees and Mastiff mix. He is going to be a BIG boy! Unlike his brother, he is a little more chill. Lazy might be a better description. He might not get up and greet you, but his tail will be wagging and he will roll over in anticipation for some belly rubs.

How it all began

I grew up in the Oshkosh area, and as an adult, have made it my home. As the oldest of seven siblings, family is important to me. I try to be someone they can look up to, and despite a large age gap, we are all pretty close. A few years ago, my sister Raegan surprised me by asking me to take her senior photos. I had never taken photographs professionally. I mean, I took a photo class back in high school, and would try to capture cute pictures of my daughter, but that was the extent of my experience. I am always up for a challenge, and my parents had an old camera I could use, so I said why not. I did research, planned poses, bought a new lens, and gave it a shot. We did multiple sessions, and after each one, I was learning so much for the next. They weren't  the best of the best, but for being my first time, I was pretty dang proud. What I didn't expect, was to fall in love with photography. Being behind the camera, taking a good photograph and making it pop with editing, it's so fulfilling! I wanted to keep going, keep getting better, so I invested in some equipment of my very own. I still have much to learn, I try to practice as often as I can, and I feel so much pride in seeing my progress.

By day, I am a marketer. I got my marketing start by building and reporting on emails for a local company. I loved seeing how a catchy subject line or a certain sale could help boost results. I then took a leap and branched out of email marketing and joined another local company as their Customer Marketing Manager. I learned so much in this role. I expanded my skill set to include advertising, website crafting, and graphic design. I also began freelancing, first by helping a local hunting and fishing guide/show with their marketing efforts. That experience gave me many opportunities to learn and grow. Since then, I have been helping others start their business's by creating logos, building websites and social accounts, as well as being a resource for any marketing questions.

A love for the outdoors

For as long as I can remember, my grandparents lived on a lake. The days spent there, I would have to be dragged out of the water. As a kid, my father shared his passion of the water, and would take me fishing, tubing, and for boat rides on Winnebago and Butte Des Mortes. I still remember the day when him and my step mother told me they had bought a house on a lake. I was ecstatic! More opportunity to spend time in and on the water. As soon as the ice was gone, my father and I were out fishing after school catching dinner. In the summer, my friends would come over and he would make it his own personal mission to throw us off while tubing. I would drag my dog out kayaking on calm days. Growing up on the water was nothing short of amazing. Even when there is ice, you can find me enjoying sturgeon spearing, or ice fishing from time to time.

I'm fortunate to have a step father who shared his passion for the outdoors with me as well. We took family camping trips, had weekends up north at the cabin, and he introduced me to hunting. I will always remember our special times sitting together. From me calling in a turkey while he was sleeping, to us trying to scare off a bear that would not leave while we were bow hunting. I haven't been out as much as I would like (I'm sure others can relate), but I look forward to each time I can.

Traveling is something I love to do. As a kid, I was able to tag along on some pretty cool trips with my grandparents. I have traveled to twenty one states, and seen places like Yellowstone, the Badlands, Grand Tetons, New York City, Nashville, and more. I would love to travel to all the national parks, and photograph the scenery. Bucket list travel destination for me, would definitely be New Zealand!

my style

They say you can learn a lot about someone based on what music they listen to. With that, I say good luck! My musical taste is all over the board. If I put my entire library on shuffle, you could go from country, to 90's alt, and then end up hearing an 80's hair band. While my music may not give you a good idea of who I am, I am still going to share some of my favorites that I never skip. Enjoy!

My photography style is more in tune with my personal life. I typically only shoot in outdoor settings, and love bringing nature into the frame and embracing the natural colors. I like to keep my sessions fun, laid back, and hopefully get you laughing! I will give you direction, show you examples to go off of, but once you are comfortable I step back and capture genuine moments A laugh from my corny jokes, exchanged smiles between you and your loved one(s), and ultimately you just being you.
